Our Lamps Are Gone Out

But the five foolish, having taken their lamps, did not take oil with them.
But the wise took oil in their vessels with the lamps.

[...]

And the foolish said unto the wise, give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
But the wise answered, saying, [Not so]; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

What kind of oil did thy use in biblical days? Was it like a plant oil or fossil fuel type?

I can totally relate to this verse, if hadn't of brought my own gas for Roxy with me to Louisville, I know I would of got stuck on the bridge going into the city. I thought I was perhaps being over-cautious, but now I feel I was just being wise.
